A lot of you seem to have an interest in maps, so I have given them this special section. Don't expect many freebies here; these are mainly commercial concerns who will gladly take your cash.

  1. Maps at the Perry-Castaneda Library, Austin, Texas. An excellent site with links to maps of all shapes and sizes.

  2. UK Ordnance Survey Gazetteer of Place Names

  3. Historical maps - includes ancient, rennaisance, early and late mediaeval up to 1700 AD. Note that the graphics make this extremely slow, but if this is what turns you on...

  4. Historical maps for many US Counties, by John Robertson

  5. California map and travel centre where maps can be ordered.

  6. Antique Town Maps in New England

  7. Kickapoo Maps showing US history before 1900. If you want to know what Kickapoo means, you will have to visit this site.

  8. Townplans from Generations Press Maps. There are some samples to download.

  9. U.S. Geological Survey - National Mapping Information. Enter State, County and the Feature you are trying to find. Try using it as a Cemetery Finding Aid. I wish the UK had a similar facility.

  10. Worldwide interactive maps and search facility

  11. UK maps with postcode search.

  12. UK maps including London. Soon to include Paris.
