A lot of you seem to have an interest in maps, so I have given them this special section. Don't expect many freebies here; these are mainly commercial concerns who will gladly take your cash.
- Maps at the Perry-Castaneda Library, Austin, Texas. An excellent site with links to maps of all shapes and sizes.
- UK Ordnance Survey Gazetteer of Place Names
- Historical maps - includes ancient, rennaisance, early and late mediaeval up to 1700 AD. Note that the graphics make this extremely slow, but if this is what turns you on...
- Historical maps for many US Counties, by
John Robertson
- California map and travel centre where maps can be ordered.
- Antique Town Maps in New England
- Kickapoo Maps showing US history before 1900. If you want to know what Kickapoo means, you will have to visit this site.
- Townplans from Generations Press Maps. There are some samples to download.
-
U.S. Geological Survey - National Mapping Information. Enter State, County and the Feature you are trying to find. Try using it as a Cemetery Finding Aid. I wish the UK had a similar facility.
- Worldwide interactive maps and
search facility
- UK maps with postcode search.
- UK maps including London. Soon to
include Paris.
