Sky Guardian

Puma HC1

Sadly the streets of Belfast have been a dangerous place for over three decades. Public unrest could occur at any time or place involving troops and police against large crowds. Top cover would be provided by a military helicopter, in this case a Puma from nearby Aldergrove. Extensive research went into this painting even before paint hit the canvas, to the extent that every star is in the correct place. The light from the moon highlighting the camouflaged helicopter against the dark night sky, and wisps of cloud threatening to remove the advantage that the lofty pearch provides for the helicopters crew. The challenges that such a composition posed were a joy to face, and I look forward to using a similar colour scheme with the bonus of searchlights in a WWII scenario.
