biography... discography before 1964... interview with Tubby Hayes... Tubby Hayes big bands... Tubby Hayes Orchestra... new Tubby Hayes Quintet... |
This page covers recordings made after 1963 only. Tubby Hayes was recorded regularly until his death in 1973 and because his recordings still sell well this discography has been extended to include recordings after 1963, some of which were not issued until well after his death in 1973. Hayes recorded many programmes for the BBC and a few titles have been issued on the IAJRC (International Association of Jazz Record Collectors) CD - "Tubby Hayes: England's Late Jazz Great". The sad thing is that the BBC holds a vast amount of sound recording covering Britain's premier jazz musicians that has never been issued in record format. Many of these later issues have been live recordings with, in some cases, poor recording quality and poor music. In many cases these discs are just extended blowing sessions with musicians not of Hayes' standard. Many of these later recordings were never issued as records and came out only when CDs became the normal audio format. |
