German Groups

IF IT IS MONDAY, LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE AND SEE FRIENDS, OLD AND NEW.
WENN ES MONTAG IST, LERNEN EIN NEUE SPRACHE UND SEHEN FREUNDE, ALTEN ODER NEUEN. The English language is a survivor. When a wave of invaders arrives, be they Anglo-Saxons, Romans, French, Indians, (ET's family?) our language just absorbs and anglicizes some of their words. Thus we have a language rich in synonyms. So, if you look again at the second line you should find very few completely alien words and, even then, you may think of something similar in English: for example "Sprache" and "speech".
If you are intrigued by the links between English and German, let us introduce you to more. We have two learning groups, which meet on alternate Mondays at 10.15am. Newcomers to either group will be very welcome.
If you already know some German, from however long ago, come along and you will be surprised how much your memory has actually retained. The Beginners group is very fortunate in having the services of a retired teacher of German.
You could, like some of us, attend both groups, the Beginners to reassure yourself and the Intermediate to challenge yourself.
The intermediate group is hoping to include more conversational German, so would be particularly pleased if anyone who speaks Germarn, or has lived in a German-speaking country, felt able to join us.
