Stephen Frith
MIMIT, dipIMIT, Hdip.
Builder of fine Concert Classical,
Acoustic & Electric Guitars

A short biography.

Stephen made his first guitar in 1979 whilst working in Crawley as a carpenter. After an invitation to exhibit his work at the Royal Festival Hall, he was encouraged to research the Classical guitar at the London College of Furniture, now part of the London Guildhall University. There his instruments were consistently selected by visiting artists to be played in concert.
After discovering a research paper written by Stephen in the college library, the Institute of Musical Instrument Technology published this paper in their organ “Soundings.” Soon after he was awarded a Diploma of the Institute for this work and asked to join. He has since been elected to the Institute Council, which regularly meets at the L.G.U.

Upon graduation from the L.C.F. he set up a workshop building Classical Guitars at his present West Green address. During this time he built up a fine stock of top quality timbers importing from Europe, India and America. He is able to now choose tops from his stock, some held since 1985.

I've known Steve for some years now and he sets up, maintains & repairs ALL of my guitars. He is a gifted luthier and quite apart from that a really nice guy. Both Steve and Sherrie try their hardest to please everyone who visits or telephones them, I've lost count of the times I've called up for advice, which was always forth coming.

Steve makes both acoustic and electric guitars, so to view them just click on your choice.
