David Thomas McNaught.
The latest David Thomas McNaught Guitar is the Phoenix. He will also accept commissions for any shape guitar a client desires.
All guitars are entirely handmade one at time by David McNaught. They are all individually signed and numbered.
A nice collection
of McNaught Quilt tops, various colours, some with custom
inlay.
Front left, a Custom,
next row 3 Tempest's, next row, right; a Gemini.
All models are available in 22 and 24 fret (2 octave) necks. (15 profiles available, chose your own fret size)
The top of the body
is very high and the dish deeper than any guitar I have seen.
(5 body thickness’
available)
Beautiful top quality
woods are used throughout the construction. The quilt tops are incredible
and you can have any colour stain you want.
(Even though most
of the pictures I have show blue models)
The neck is very deeply set into the body; there is no heel at all.
Flame maple binding
all along the neck and round headstock.
(Headstock can
be matched to the top quilting)
Natural Honduras Mahogany back. (Tone cavities can be included in the body)
Heavy Gold plated German hardware. (Tremolos included)
Your choice of pickup, switches and configuration
Macassar Rosewood or Brazilian Rosewood fingerboards are available
The workmanship is of an absolutely incredible standard and the sound of the guitar is superb.
A tiger-eye quilt
Gemini in all it's glory.
I currently have
a Gemini on order and will publish pictures and
playing impressions
as soon as I can.
Same guitar, different quilt.

Blue is a very
popular colour it seems?

In daylight the
colour really sparkles.
If you look long
enough the waves actually move !
Red never comes
out very well in photos.
This walnut Tempest
has the custom Saturn inlays. Close up featured in the Inlay
section.
McNaught Phoenix,
translucent blue top and phoenix inlay.
Not the greatest
couple of photos of a Phoenix, the top one does the colour no justice at
all and the bottom has camera flare, looks like an 'F' hole, along
the top edge.
What can be seen
is the shape, general layout and the book matched quilted maple on both
the body and the headstock.
At last; one that's
not blue?
A Gemini with Phoenix
inlay.
Note the flame
maple binding around the body top and all along the neck.
Gemini with one
of 6 different types of vine inlay.
