Rotaract  is a community based club. This means that as well as Raising money for charity, we aim to get directly involved and help where we can. The main reasons why we do this, is that it is both extremely rewarding and fun. Brentwood is a very active club in this respect, and in the past year we have taken part in many activities. To give you a flavour of the club I have listed them below.

  • Some of the club members helped out at a "Have a go sports day" for disabled children.
  • We helped at a fete in aid of funds for sufferers of arthritis, doing lifting tasks etc.
  • 7 Club members planted a bank of 4000 snowdrop bulbs for St. Francis hospice, that will hopefully come up next spring:)
  • We coordinated, funded and supported a scheme with Basildon Youth Theatre, to put drugs education into 17 Primary schools in the Brentwood Area. The scheme was presented at the rotaract in great Britain and Ireland conference and won the award for the best community project by a single club. We're all very proud. • We ran our annual hamper collection at Somerfields in Brentwood. We collected 2 trolley loads of foodstuffs, that were non perishable and hence hopefully most useful to elderly people in our area. The distribution of the hampers was  again done by local social services. This meant that the food was able to go to the people that needed it most.
  • We helped out at District community day. This was organised with Chelmsford Rotaract, and involved laying a path in Hadleigh Country park.

  •  We cleared a shed  for a local elderly man who was wheelchair bound, and needed it clear to store his wheelchair in.
  • 5 Club members marshaled and handed out water at the Brentwood a Beckett Rotary charity fun run.

  • Some of the club members helped out with a street collection for the talking Newspaper for the blind in Brentwood. We did 2 hours each, and helped them collect some valuable funds.
  • 2 club members helped an old lady who couldn't get rid of some soil from her garden pots that was infested with weeds.
